GEO agency: get cited by ChatGPT, Gemini & Perplexity

Evergreen Growth Marketing is a GEO and AEO consultancy in Raleigh, NC. I get brands named inside the answers ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Gemini, and Perplexity give buyers.

The work starts with a measurement: I run your real buyer questions through the engines and record how often your brand gets named, and who gets named instead. Then I build what those engines demonstrably reward — verifiable authority, unambiguous entity signals, structured data, extractable answers, and crawler access — and re-run the same questions so you can see the number move.

What it is

When someone asks ChatGPT, Perplexity, or Google's AI Overviews to recommend a business like yours, one name comes back first. Right now it probably isn't yours, and the buyer never sees the ten blue links where you used to compete.

AI answer engines don't rank pages the way classic search does. They pull from sources they trust, quote the ones structured to be quoted, and recommend businesses whose authority they can verify. I build all three, so when the question gets asked, you're the answer.

Most of this work is invisible until you measure it, which is why every engagement opens and closes with the same test: your buyer questions, run live across the engines, scored on how often you get named. That number is the one I report against. It is also the one most tools quietly replace with a citation count, and in our own testing the two barely track each other — a brand can be cited as a source without ever being recommended.

Common questions

AI Search Visibility (AEO / GEO), answered

What is the difference between SEO and AEO / GEO?

SEO gets you ranked in the list of blue links. AEO (Answer Engine Optimization) and GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) get you named inside the AI answer itself: the recommendation ChatGPT, Perplexity, or Google AI Overviews hands back before the user ever sees a link. Increasingly that answer is the only thing the buyer reads.

How long until I start showing up in AI answers?

It depends on where your authority and site structure start. Schema and crawler access can be fixed in weeks; the authority signals that get you recommended build over a few months. I set the fast wins first so you see movement early while the slower work catches up.

Can you guarantee a citation in ChatGPT?

No, and anyone who does is guessing. The engines change and no one controls their output. What I can do is build every signal they demonstrably reward: verifiable authority, clean structure, extractable answers. That makes you the obvious business for them to name.

How do I get my brand mentioned in ChatGPT?

There is nothing to buy from OpenAI, so the work is indirect. ChatGPT leans heavily on third-party sources — reviews, roundups, comparisons, forums — plus whatever it can crawl and parse on your own site. That means three jobs: make your own pages unmistakable about who you are and who you serve, earn mentions on the sources the engine already reads, and remove whatever is blocking its crawler. Then measure, because none of it is visible from your analytics.

Should a small marketing team hire a consultant or an agency for AI search?

If you have one person who can execute ten to fifteen hours a week, hire a consultant to build the roadmap and train the team — you will get further per dollar. If nobody has the time to implement, you need an agency that does the work, and you should expect to pay a retainer for it. What I would not do either way is sign a twelve-month contract before anyone has measured where you actually stand. Start with a paid diagnostic and decide from the results.

How do you measure AI visibility?

Mention rate: the share of your real buyer questions where an engine names your brand, tested live across ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity, and re-tested on the same questions so the trend means something. I log every run, including the ones that go backwards. Be careful with tools that report citation counts instead — being quoted as a source and being recommended as the answer are close to independent signals, and only one of them wins the customer.
